Today I'm thankful for the opportunity that popped up for my friend. She's worked so hard, she definitely deserves it!

Thankful #16: cooking with mallory

Today I'm thankful for the fun times Mallory and I have had cooking together lately. Tonight, we made a chocolate cake. She was excited to help with every step, but especially with the chocolate chips. And because she's a smart girl her favorite was tasting the batter "one last time". Too bad the cake fell apart when it came out of the pan...

Thankful #14: Peace

I'm thankful that on nights like tonight when I get a "gonna be late" text from Matthew I have the peace that comes from knowing God is watching over Matthew!

Thankful #13: Suprise!

We had a fun surprise today. Matthew got to work and found out he had the day off. Woo hoo!!!  So what if he had to drive all the way there and back, it was worth it. He got to work out, I got to go to the mall (ALONE!), and we all got to go to Life Group together!

Thankful #12: Great Friends

Today I'm thankful for visits with great friends!

I was lucky enough to have lunch today with one of my oldest friends, LaTesia. When I say old, I mean it. Our moms were friends before we were born so we say we've been friends since the womb! Since she lives in Colorado it had been years since our last visit, and man were we past due. It was so nice to sit and catch up over lunch.

And as if that wasn't enough, shortly after I got home we had some of our college friends come over to watch Tech play (get creamed). It was a great afternoon and evening hanging out and laughing!

I am so blessed to have so many great friends. I love yall!

Thankful: Day #11

Thankful #11: My Sleeper

Some people might say I'm jinxing myself with this one, but here goes... Today I'm thankful for the excellent sleeper that Mallory is. We have been very blessed in that she has never needed a whole lot of help getting to sleep. As a baby, she never needed to be rocked, have a noise machine or anything like that.

Now days there are many nights where an outsider would probably look at her and think there is no way that child is going to sleep because she might be running laps or bouncing like crazy on the bed. But all it takes is for her to lay down, read a book or two, pray and maybe sing the Mallory Joy Joy song and she is out as long as she has puppy and paci*. After we say good night, we rarely hear anything from her until after 7 am.  This, is a MAJOR blessing!

*yes, she still sleeps with her paci. but when sleep works this good, i'm in NO hurry to mess things up.

Thankful: Day #10

Thankful #10: Breaking Our Streak

Today I am thankful that on this November 11 we did not have any medical emergencies. For the last three years in a row November 11 has included a hospital stay, an ambulance ride, an er visit, and an after hours pediatrician visit. This year I am thankful for our health!!!

Thankful: Day #9

Thankful #9: Thankful Mallory

That title might not make much sense to you right away, but  it really helped my day. Mallory has been a BIG daddy's girl lately. Today when I got home from work I went upstairs where she was playing and she told me three times "I don't want you". Yeah, that felt great! Fast forward to bedtime...the first thing Mallory said when we started to pray was "I thank God for Mommy". That went a long way to soothe my hurt feelings!

Thankful: Day #7

Thankful #7: Surprise

All year long we've known that Matthew would be working the Friday-Monday after Christmas. That's just how the schedule is this year, so we were just going to make the most of Thanksgiving day. At least that's what we thought until today.  It turns out Matthew is actually going to be off that Saturday, Sunday, & Monday!  Woo hoo...we can all go to my parents house that weekend!

Now, maybe some miracle will happen and somehow we will find more than 1 day at Christmas when we're both off?

Thankful: Day #6

Thankful #6: Monica

Today is Monica's first anniversary, so her gift from me is some time in the spotlight on my blog. Monica is a true BFF, I can't remember a day in my life that she wasn't my friend! Monica, I couldn't imagine a better friend. Love you and happy anniversary!

Thankful: Day #5

Day 5: Some nots

Today I'm thankful:
  • I did NOT have to give up on getting Mallory's new car seat in after trying it two different ways. I just went back and read one tiny little step I had missed
  • I did NOT have to be stuck at home all day because the garage door wouldn't go down. I just kept hitting the button over and over and over...
  • I did NOT have to spend more than a few seconds locked in the garage while Mallory was in the house crying because she thought I had left her.
  • I did NOT have to totally take the car seat out and put it back so I could move the straps when I realized that Mallory was a lot taller than I had guessed
  • I did NOT cry when Kroger didn't have the chocolate cake I had been planing on eating since the middle of my run this morning.
Yep, its been one of those days!

Thankful: Day #4

Day 4: Friday Afternoon and Evening with Mallory

Several mornings this week Mallory has woke up asking me to play with her or just to "stay home". Now tell me who would be excited to leave that sweet girl at home or school? So, I was very much looking forward to getting her from school this afternoon. We didn't do anything crazy exciting, but its was a great Friday night. We went to Target and she tried to convince me to buy some Dora soap because it was "perfect for us". We danced to Galileo (you might call it Dynamite by Taio Cruz) in the bathroom before her shower. She even pretended to be a baby and let me hold her while she drank some milk. We finished it off with books and a prayer before saying good night. I love that girl!!!

Thankful: Day #3

Day 3: An Empty Sink
Today I'm thankful because I left work with a sink of dirty dishes and came home to an empty sink with dishes put away. Sometimes the little things are the best things!

Thankful #2

Day 2: Mallory's Daddy Days
Yes, I definitely miss my days at home with Mallory since I've gone back to work. But there are some things that make it a lot better than it could be. Days like today are one of them. When I left this morning, Mallory was hanging out at home in her pjs with Matthew. At lunch time I got a text from Matthew saying that they had Chuck E. Cheese all to themselves. I LOVE knowing that Mallory is getting to have great days like today with her daddy while I'm at work!

Thankful #1

Everyone else is blogging about things they are thankful for, so I guess I will too.  See, peer pressure isn't all bad!

Day 1:  Tuesday lunches with Matthew.
Matthew is off on Tuesdays and Mallory is at school, so every Tuesday Matthew picks me up for my lunch break and we go to lunch together. Its a great chance for us to have a mini-date just the two us every week.

Happy Halloween!

We've had a blast this weekend celebrating Halloween.  I kicked off Saturday with the Monster Mash 15K.  It was a beautiful morning and a great run. There were lots of runners in costume. I could have really done without seeing the man running in only a bib and a diaper.

Yesterday afternoon me and my little Kitty Cat went to church for our fall festival. Mallory had a blast. She loved the bounce houses, getting candy at the trunk or treat, digging for treasure and even petted a snake!
Where's the cat?

Here she is!

Digging for treasure
Tonight we went over to our friends house for some Halloween fun.  The kids had a blast playing and Trick or Treating together!
Cheyenne, Mallory, Brandon, Blake, Corbin, Bryant

Which way to the next house?

Trick or treating is hard work, good thing Daddy was there for a ride home!

Cousins and Pumpkins

Anita, Abby, and Nathan came to see us over their long weekend. It was pretty much non stop fun! Even when we weren't really doing anything, Mallory, Abby, and Nathan managed to find some fun.

When the mommies go running, you never know what will happen. This used to be a ball. Clearly, its MUCH better as a hat!

Yeah, Abby's a tad bit entertaining!

We went to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday. It was a bit hot, but what kid doesn't love climbing on a big ol' mound of pumpkins?

Even Matthew got in on the fun!

Mallory LOVED the big slide and obstacle course.

So did Abby and Nathan!

When I saw the slide ladder I wondered it Mallory could make it up by herself.  Obviously, it was not a problem.

Yep, she pretty much has her daddy right where she wants him!

Yep, We're Still Alive

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that its been 2 months since my last post.  We've been busy with getting settled in the new house, 2 trips to Ft. Worth, birthdays, visitors from Ft. Worth, a half marathon, marathon training, and the every day world of working and the craziness of Mallory Joy Joy!  Here are a few pictures documenting the Mallory craziness part, for everything else you'll just have to use your imagination.

Tiff, you can tell your mom that Mallory is getting lots of use out of the bag she made.

This picture is why I check on Mallory before I go to bed. Her head was just barely hanging on the bed, so I carefully turned her around and tucked her in. When I gave her a little kiss, she mumbled in her sleep "need hug too!"  How sweet is she?!?

I promise, this is not how Mallory moved to the new house.

Making PaPaw proud!

I guess she spent a lot of time in boxes?

Mallory was a BIG fan of the coffee table jungle gym before we found the glass top pieces for it.

These two kind of like each other!

Mal has been perfecting her "silly face".

Sara taught her how to get her guns up this summer. Too bad there hasn't been a whole lot for us Red Raiders to cheer about this season.

When you're this cute, someone's got to take your picture!

Mallory is VERY into her 'noculars these days. I think this time she pulled them out and told me she was looking for Chick-Fil-A.
